In this article, you will learn how to create a new transactional (smart) email template from beginning to end.

βœ‰οΈ Creating your new transactional (smart) email template βœ‰οΈ

STEP 1: From your Peptalkr homepage you will want to click Send Email.

STEP 2: On this page, you will see a tab called 'Transactional' at the top of the screen. Click on that.

STEP 3: Here you will want to click on the green button in the top right that says 'Create an email'.

  • Name this email - You will want to describe what this email is all about. This name will be what you see in your email reports and admin areas. No patient will see this name.

  • Write a subject line - The subject line is what the recipient will see in their email inbox. You will want to make this as appealing as possible and for the patient to understand what is inside. You can use personalisation variables here to make it more personal. For more about the email variables, you can click on the highlighted email variables. Or you can read more about them in our help centre with these articles:

  • Who is it from? - In the first box you will put in who the email is coming from. in the second box, you will enter the part of the email before the @ symbol. From the drop-down menu, you will select your domain. If you have not verified your domain it will not appear here. For more information on how to verify your domain check out these articles:

In the meantime, you can use the domain and use a different reply-to address (here you will insert your email).

πŸ’₯Using the peptalkr domain may mean that your emails could go into the recipient's junk folder as it is a widely used domain, so it is best to use your own domain.πŸ’₯

  • Add recipients to a list - Here you will want to select 'Don't add to a list'.

  • Content - Click 'Build your email'.

πŸ›  How to build your email πŸ›

In the email builder, you will see Recent emails, My templates as well as CHOOSE A DESIGN. Here you can browse through many different email templates which are ready to fill out with your own information. The templates range from simple and minimal to fun and colourful. Once you have chosen your template you can click on it to select it.

Here you can fully customise it to make it suit your needs. On the left-hand side, you will see these boxes with options as to what you can insert into the template:

Here are some examples and important things to do in your email build:

🌼 PERSONALISATION: In your email, you will want to make sure that you are making it as personal as possible. You can add as many different personalisation variables as needed. For more information on this and how you can add them, you can look at these articles:

🌻 LOGO: At the top of all the templates, it will ask you to 'Drag your logo here.' Make sure you do this at the top and the bottom of the templates. When you do this, there will be options on the left-hand side. Here you can set it to link to your website when it is clicked on, change the alignment as well as many more options to play around with. When you are happy with it, select 'Done editing.'

🌸 TEXT: You can add text by clicking the 'text' box on the left of the page or editing what is already in the template. If you are adding new text, type in what you need to say and then you can drag it anywhere in the template that it needs to go. If there's already existing text in the template that you don't want, click on it and then press the red bin.

🚨 There will also be a box left where the text was deleted from, this is a 'section' of the template. If you delete this it will change the layout of the template. You can insert the text you do want inside of it. You can add a new section by clicking 'Add section +' close to the bottom of the template.

🌺 VIDEO: If you wanted to include a video in the email you could select 'video', then insert the URL in the box that pops up. Once the video is added to the template you can click and drag the video around until it is in the spot you desire. To delete the video you have added, click on it and then the little red bin that pops up next to it.

Alternatively, if you wanted to add a link to the video instead, you can select 'Button' on the left-hand side. Here you will have the choice to change the button text. You could write something like 'watch video', and add the video link in the button link section. You can then customise the button to look however you like.

🌹 FOOTER: Down the very bottom of the template you will see text that you should edit with the information about your business as well as any social media you would like the email linked to. You can unselect social media links that do not apply to you by clicking on the section and you will see on the left of the screen all of the selected links. Here you can unselect as well as add the link to your own social media platforms.

🏁 Finishing your transactional email 🏁

Once your template is how you want it to look click 'Preview' in the top right. Here you will see how the email will look on both a desktop (left) and mobile (right). You can scroll down to make sure you are happy with everything and then select 'I'm done, return to snapshot'.

Now you can decide to 'Finish' or 'Send a test'. If you would like to send yourself a test email, you can click through and it will ask you to enter the email address(es) you want it sent to as well as what you want the variables to say in your email.

Once you are then happy with everything you can select 'Finish'.

You will then see this pop-up! YOU CAN IGNORE THIS. You do not need to add code or ask your developer anything. Peptalkr handles this automatically. This message will disappear as soon as you send your first email with this trigger. What you can do instead is select Triggers on the left of the page and start creating triggers for your emails. Click Introduction to Smart Triggers to get started.

Once you have created a template - it can be used as a starting point for any future email you create to save you time in customising the email to your branding again πŸŽ‰
