If you're having trouble accessing Peptalkr, or are seeing things loading strange or broken - this article is for you.
First things first, make sure your:
Browser is fully up to date
You have logged out, and back in before proceeding with the below
An out of date browser can cause several issues as technology becomes incompatible with old browsers. Like Cliniko, we recommend you use only the latest stable version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari.
If that doesn't solve it - let's start troubleshooting.
1. Clear your cache
Why?
Browsers (like Chrome) cache files on websites to help you load them faster. When these files are updated on our servers (such as when we deploy updates), the browser might still use the cached (and now outdated) versions. If these cached files are incompatible with the new versions - it can result in a blank screen or error. To fix it, your cache will need to be cleared.
You'll need to clear your local browser cache. This requires a 'hard refresh'. Follow the steps below based on the browser you use:
Chrome
On your computer, open Chrome
At the top right, click More
Clear browsing data.
Choose a time range - we recommend All time.
Check the boxes for Cached images and files (everything else can be unchecked)
Click Clear data.
Firefox
In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and then select Preferences or Settings, depending on your macOS/Windows version.
Select the Privacy & Security panel.
In the Cookies and Site Data section, click Clear Data….
Remove the check mark in front of Cookies and Site Data.
With Cached Web Content check marked, click the Clear button.
Close the Settings page. Any changes you've made will automatically be saved.
Safari
Click on Safari in the menu at the top of the screen.
Click on Settings or Preferences (depending on the version of macOS you are running).
Go to the Privacy tab.
Click on Manage Website Data…
Search for Peptalkr and click all results
Choose Remove All or select websites individually to remove.
2. Try incognito
If clearing your cache didn't work, try opening an Incognito or Private Browsing window and try logging into Peptalkr.
If it works incognito:
There is an issue with your browser configuration, normally this is a plugin, extension or other setting.
Disable any extensions/plugins you don't use and try again.
If that didn't work disable ALL extensions/plugins and try again - enabling them one by one until you find which one is causing the problem. Consider replacing or eliminating that plugin as it may be no longer actively updated. It should not interfere with Peptalkr, and is a problem only the plugin developer can fix.
If it doesn't work incognito:
Install another browser and use that in the meantime. You will need to send us your Browser and version, Operating system and version and details of what issue you are experiencing so we can investigate.
A note on browsers
We recommend you use the latest version of Google Chrome or Firefox to access Peptalkr - these are the most reliable browsers for use with a modern web application.
We do not recommend Internet Explorer.
