Create a custom list of subscribers

Lists are like 'audiences' - separate groups of email addresses used for different marketing purposes.

ℹ️ Who this tutorial is for

Peptalkr allows you to do much more than just email your patients - you can send email to anyone. To do this, you'll need to create subscriber lists for your specific needs. Here's how it all works.

Peptalkr comes with an automatically-synced Patients list, which contains your opted-in email subscribers from Cliniko.

But what if you want to send emails to non-patients, or other audiences such as your website subscribers, staff/contacts, workshop attendees, and more?

It's both possible and easy with Peptalkr.

You can:

  1. Import subscriber lists from other sources.

  2. Create new subscriber lists and connect them to a sign up for to automatically collect new subscribers via your website or a landing page.

  3. Manually add subscribers to a custom list.

You can create as many additional custom lists as you need. Just remember, subscribers you import into custom lists also contribute to your total subscriber count - which can influence the cost of your Peptalkr plan.

To create a custom list

  1. In the email manager, Go to Lists & Subscribers

  2. Click Create a list

  3. Give your list a name - such as 'Website subscribers'

  4. Click continue to import and either import an existing list of subscribers, or just add your own email address manually to get started with a new list.

Add some custom fields

Now you can customise the fields you'd like your list to store about each subscriber - great for storing things like post codes, age, interests and more.

  1. In the left hand menu of your list, click Custom fields

  2. You'll see the following fields have been added by default:

    1. Name

    2. Email address

    3. Mobile number

To add more fields, click Add custom field in the top right. You may want to add things such as:

  1. Interests (i.e. topics the subscriber wants to hear about)

  2. Gender/Sex

  3. Age

βœ… Now you have another list! You're able to segment it, send campaigns or even automations.

Create a signup form for your list to collect subscribers automatically

Now you can create a signup form so that people can sign up to your list.

There's 3 signup form methods to choose from:

  • Signup landing page

  • Embedded form for your website

  • Create a popup for your website

Head to this guide for more details:

Automate emails to subscribers of your custom list

Peptalkr's automated journeys can be sent to subscribers of custom lists. Unlike transactional email, which can only be sent to patients - automated journeys are flexible in that you can send them to anyone.

  1. Go to the Send Email tab

  2. Click on Automation

  3. Click Create an Automation

  4. Click Custom journey

  5. Name your journey - e.g. Newsletter welcome email

  6. Select a trigger - the most common are:

    1. Subscriber joins the list (good for welcome emails)

    2. Subscriber enters a segment (good for interest-based emails and downloads)

  7. Select your newly created list from the Recipients dropdown

Now you can go ahead and build your email. For more detailed instructions, head to our guide on Automated Email Journeys.

Note: when using a segment-based trigger you need to first create your segment(s). You can check out this tutorial for more on that.
