Peptalkr automatically creates a patient marketing list containing email addresses of patients/clients in your Cliniko account.
But if you want to collect email addresses from other sources such as:
A newsletter sign up form on your website;
A lead collection landing page;
A workshop or event,
you can create as many additional custom lists as you need.
π Remember Peptalkr automatically syncs your Cliniko database to the 'Patient' list. You should not manually import patients from Cliniko as this will interfere with the automatic syncing we already handle for you. This article is just for cases where you want to collect email addresses separate to your Cliniko patients/clients.
To create a custom list
1. Create a list
Go to the Send Email tab and click 'Lists & Subscribers' - here you'll see your synced 'Patients' list.
As you're adding a new list, click on 'Create a list' in the top right corner.
2. Name your list
Give your list a logical name, such as 'Facebook leads' then click 'Continue to import'
3. Add an email address to the list
You can import an existing list of email addresses if you have one - here's the instructions for that. But if this is a brand new list, just go ahead and add your own email address to it by pasting/typing your email into the field:
4. Add your custom fields
Now you can customise the fields you'd like your list to store about each subscriber - click Custom fields.
You'll see the following fields have been added by default:
Name
Email address
Mobile number
To add more fields, click Add custom field in the top right.
You may want to add things such as:
Interests (i.e. topics the subscriber wants to hear about)
Gender/Sex
Age
5. Customise your sign up form
Now you can create a sign up form so that people can sign up to your list.
We have separate, detailed instructions for this. There are 3 kinds of sign up forms you can create:
Sign up page
Paste code onto your website
Create a popup for your website
Read more about each here.
6. Connect your sign up form (optional)
You can also connect your list to a form plugin on your website.
Some WordPress form builders are compatible with Peptalkr lists.
To connect your list to a plugin, you're going to need a Peptalkr API key. Please contact us for your key. We keep these private to ensure your account is secure but can share them with you by request.
7. Connect an automation to your list (optional)
The last step is to automate an email to your list subscribers when they sign up.
This is particularly handy for:
Sending a welcome email to new subscribers.
Sending a download link for a PDF/resource the subscribers has signed up to receive.
Sending more information about a product or service a subscriber has elected to hear about.
To create an automation:
Go to the Send Email tab
Click on Automation
Click Create an Automation
Click Custom journey
Name your journey - e.g. Newsletter welcome email
Select a trigger - the most common are:
Subscriber joins the list (good for welcome emails)
Subscriber enters a segment (good for interest-based emails and downloads)
Select your newly created list from the Recipients dropdown
Now you can go ahead and build your email. For more detailed instructions, head to our guide on Automated Email Journeys.
Note: when using a segment-based trigger you need to first create your segment. You can check out this tutorial for more on that.
β Now you have another list! You're able to segment it, send campaigns or even automations.
Use a QR code with your sign up form
Want people to be able to sign up to your list using a QR code?
Create a landing page on your website or a Peptalkr signup page
Use a QR code generator to link to your page URL - a free one you can use is on Canva
