If you'd like to use Google Analytics 4 to measure the performance of your Peptalkr emails, you will need to ensure you have:

  1. Integrated GA4 on your website.

  2. Implemented GA4 with Cliniko.

  3. Added tracking parameters to your Peptalkr links.

In this article we'll cover off how to achieve each step, as well as how to view your results.

Integrate GA4 on your website

This is something that is likely already done on your website if you use Google Analytics to measure your website traffic and other performance metrics.

However, if you have not yet added GA4 to your website, you will need to follow the steps in Google's implementation guide to create your GA4 property.

You then have two methods of Integration:

Follow the steps or handover to your website developer and ensure the tracking is working correctly before moving onto the next step.

Implement GA4 with Cliniko

Cliniko has a comprehensive set of guides around implementing GA4 with Cliniko, so that you can track:

  1. Traffic to your Cliniko booking widget.

  2. Track bookings.

Adding GA4 to Cliniko

Depending on whether your Cliniko booking widget is 'Embedded' into your website (e.g yourdomain.com/bookings) or is hosted on Cliniko (e.g your-clinic.au1.cliniko.com) - the instructions differ.

Track Cliniko 'bookings' as conversions

This step is necessary if you want to see the number of Cliniko bookings that are generated from marketing sources.

Track traffic and bookings resulting from Peptalkr emails

Campaigns and Automated Journeys

Peptalkr automatically adds UTM tracking parameters to all links inside a Peptalkr Campaign or Automated Journey email that go to your website domain(s) or Cliniko. The parameters are in the following format:

  • Source = Peptalkr

  • Medium = email

  • Campaign = The name of the email

Transactional email

For Transactional email, you need to add your own UTM parameters - which you can create using the Google UTM tracking builder:

We recommend the following format:

  • Campaign source = Peptalkr

  • Campaign medium = email

  • Campaign name = The type of transactional email (e.g. DNA_recall)

  • Campaign content = The specifics of the email (e.g. 30_day_physio)

πŸŽ‰ Now you'll be able to see which Peptalkr emails generated traffic and bookings in GA4 - simply filter your data by Source and set to 'Peptalkr' - you can then drill down by medium, campaign and content for more granular reporting.

Please ensure you test thoroughly, and use a GA4/GTM expert if you get stuck.
