Want your emails to look sharp and load fast? Here’s everything you need to know about using images in your Peptalkr campaigns.

✅ Recommended Image Sizes

Use Case

Image Width (px)

Notes

Full-width banner

600px – 640px

Matches the standard email width—safe across most email clients.

Retina-quality banners

1200px – 1280px

For sharper display on high-res (Retina) screens. File size matters!

Inline content images

400px – 600px

Good for product shots or photos in the body of your email.

Logos / small icons

100px – 200px

Keep small, especially if used in footers or headers.

Note about Retina screens: To make images look crisp on Retina displays (like iPhones and Macs), use images that are twice the display width. For example, if your email layout displays a banner at 600px wide, use a 1200px-wide image and let it scale down. This ensures sharpness without pixelation.

📆 File Size Recommendations

  • Keep images under 1MB. Aim for 200–500KB if possible.

  • Compress your image if it’s too large (see tools below).

  • Large images = slow emails = 🙅‍♀️ unsubscribes.

📁 Supported Image Formats

  • ✅ JPG / JPEG — great for photos

  • ✅ PNG — best for images with transparency or text

  • ✅ GIF — including animated GIFs (keep under 1MB)

  • ❌ SVG — not supported in most email clients

🧰️ How to Resize Images (Free + Easy)

You can resize images in two ways:

  1. Directly within Peptalkr (quick and easy)

  2. On your computer before uploading to Peptalkr (more control)

⚡️ Within Peptalkr's email builder

  1. When editing your email, click the image block you have uploaded.

  2. Click on the Crop button.

  3. Edit the longest dimension of your image to be a maximum of 1200px for width or height.

  4. You can optionally also set the aspect ratio (shape) of your image to 1:1 (square) or some other ratio for consistently sized images.

  5. You can also drag the corners of the image handles to manually crop your image.

Click the crop button on any image you've uploaded into your design:

Set a width or height, and optionally an aspect ratio (shape) or use the handles in the corners of the image.

🪠 Windows

Use: Paint (built-in app)

  1. Right-click the image > Open with > Paint

  2. Click Resize in the top toolbar

  3. Choose Pixels, then enter your desired width (e.g. 600)

  4. Make sure Maintain aspect ratio is checked

  5. Save As > JPEG or PNG

Alternative: Photopea (browser-based, like Photoshop)
Great if you want to crop, compress or edit more than just size.

🍎 Mac

Use: Preview (built-in app)

  1. Double-click the image to open in Preview

  2. Click Tools > Adjust Size

  3. Set the width (e.g. 600px) — height will auto-adjust

  4. File > Export… > Select JPEG or PNG & adjust quality to reduce file size

Alternative: Photopea — works on Mac too.

💡 Pro Tips

  • Don’t upload 3000px wide images if your email is only 600px wide (which they are by default in Peptalkr)

  • Always compress images before uploading — TinyPNG is a fave.

  • For emails with multiple images: smaller is better (total email size should stay under 102KB, including HTML).
