Send a campaign to patients who didn't open the email the first time

Updated over a week ago

You can make a segment based on the activity of a marketing campaign that has already been sent.

If you would like to re-send a campaign to patients who didn't (or did) open a campaign, here is how:

🚨 Note: This does not apply to Smart (transactional) email.

First, we will need to create a segment, so we know who to re-send the campaign to.

Step 1: Go to 'Send Email'

Step 2: Click 'Lists & Subscribers' along the top of the page

Step 3: Click on 'Patients'.

IMPORTANT: You may be tempted to press 'Create a list' before selecting 'Patients' however, we are here to create a segment within your patient list, so we will be doing that.

Step 5: Click 'Create a new segment'.

  • Here you will see a drop-down menu, and you will select 'Specific campaign'. This is under the sub-heading 'Campaign activity'.

  • Another drop-down menu will appear, and you can select 'was not opened'. In the text box, you will want to find the name of the campaign you want to re-send and select that.

Step 6: Name the segment. You might want to name it the name of the campaign and add '- Did Not Open' to the end so that you can easily find it later.

Example: If the campaign was New Bookings Campaign, you could use 'New Bookings Campaign - Did Not Open'

Step 7: 'Save and preview'. A list of all the patients who didn't open the campaign will appear and is saved.

Now that you have your segment, you can resend the campaign (or a new campaign) targeting only these people. Go to 'Send email' and 'Campaigns', find the campaign you want to send and click on it. Click the green button that says 'Select recipients' and here you can find the segment you just made. Once you have selected that segment, it will only send to those patients, and you can go ahead and 'Prepare to send'.

πŸ“ Note: You can edit the email and the content of the email here if you were wanting it to be any different to the first campaign sent.

Please let us know if you need any help.
