Learn how to keep your SMS credit balance in check so you can send without disruption

Updated over a week ago

Just like Cliniko, Peptalkr also requires you to purchase SMS credits in order to send SMS. As Cliniko and Peptalkr are independent systems, you cannot 'share' credits between us.

Cost of SMS credits

Peptalkr is an Australian-based company. As such, we charge in Australian dollars.

1 credit = 10c AUD (+ GST if you're in Australia)

What does 1 credit get you?

1 credit is 160 characters. If an SMS you send contains more than 160 characters, it will require another credit.

For example, if you send an SMS which is 200 characters - it will cost 2 credits per recipient that receives it.

😒 Emojis are disabled in SMS because they occupy a huge number of characters. 1 emoji is not 1 character - it's made up of symbols and code - so we have disabled them so that you don't inadvertently waste credits giving a thumbs up πŸ‘.

How to top up

To purchase credits, head to the Send SMS tab and click buy more:

You can then select how many credits you'd like and enter your payment information.

Running out of credits

If your credit balance is getting low, we'll email you.

Please mark emails from Peptalkr as important so you don't miss them!

You will be notified when:

  • Your credit balance falls below 400

  • Your credit balance falls below 100

  • Your credit balance runs out

What happens if you run out and have active SMS automations?

Your SMS will not send. They will go into an 'insufficient balance' status.

Once you top up, you will need to resume them (we don't automatically resume them as you may not want to turn some of them back on - we leave that up to you).

SMS will only re-send SMS in the queue from the last hour.

Auto top up?

This is one of the most requested features 😁. We get it - and we are working on it. We know it seems simple, but our billing system needed a complete upgrade to support this. It is in progress right now, and it will be released around the middle of 2024. We'll let you know when it becomes available.
