Customise your emails with data specific to the recipient such as their name, appointment date or practitioner name.

Just like Cliniko emails, Peptalkr email content can also be customised with dynamic variables which allow you to insert data that is specific to the receiving patient.

Types of variables

The variables you can use differ depending on which kind of email you're sending, as some emails are related to specific appointments, where others aren't.

Use this table to understand the different types of variables you can use:

Event variables

Used for:

πŸ“… Transactional

Event variables are used in Transactional emails, where the variables need to be specific to the exact appointment/event that triggered the email.

Examples:

  • Date of the appointment

  • Treating practitioner

  • The appointment type or category

General variables

Used for:

πŸš€ Campaigns
and
▢️ Automations

General variables are used in marketing Campaigns and Automated Journeys, where the variables are top level information about the recipient and their overall appointment history.

Examples:

  • The total number of appointments they've attended

  • The last business they visited

  • The practitioner they normally see

It's important to use the correct variable type in your email content. Using the wrong variable will result in them coming out blank. It's simple:

  • Transactional emails always use Event variables

  • Campaigns and Automated Journeys always use General variables

Click the buttons above to learn exactly how to insert them.

FAQs

Can I put personalisation variables into the subject line?

Yes! You can also put them into other email configuration fields such as:

  • In subject lines for your emails (e.g. Hi, Monique!)

  • In the sender name for your emails (e.g. to make an email come from a specific practitioner)

  • Inside your email content

What do personalisation variables look like?

It will be nicely formatted text that is easily readable. You can test your variables before sending an email to see how they'll look.

For you, a variable will look like this:

Hi [patientfirstname]

For a patient named Michelle it will look like this:

Hi Michelle

My variables aren't working...

If you're inserting the wrong type of variable into an email, they won't work. Be sure you're using event variables if sending a transactional email, and general variables if sending a campaign or automated journey.

Note: Some event variables are not compatible with certain triggers. Refer to the event variable guide for details.

Why are variables different depending on what I'm sending?

Peptalkr can send email that is specific to ANY past attended or upcoming appointment, as such these email types have special variables that can insert data for that exact appointment - rather than just their 'last' or 'next' appointment.

So we've built in a way to manage this automatically - you just need to use the correct variable based on the type of communication you're sending 😊
