Peptalkr replaces any email marketing tools you're currently using (like Mailchimp) and handles all your clinic emailsβboth patient appointment emails and marketing campaigns.
There are 3 types of email you can send with Peptalkr. Understanding which type to use is the first step to mastering Peptalkr email.
The 3 types of email
π Transactional emails (appointment-powered)
What they are: Automated emails that send based on appointments in Clinikoβwhen they're booked, attended, cancelled, or missed.
Common examples:
Appointment confirmations and reminders
Welcome emails for new patients
Reactivation emails (when patients haven't rebooked)
Cancellation follow-ups
Feedback requests after appointments
Post-treatment care instructions
When to use: Any time the email relates to a specific appointment or you want to reference appointment details in the email.
π Campaigns (one-off marketing blasts)
What they are: One-time emails you send manually to your patients or other subscriber lists for marketing purposes.
Common examples:
Monthly newsletters
Special offers and promotions
Clinic announcements
New service launches
Seasonal campaigns
When to use: When you want to send a marketing message right now (or schedule it) to your whole list or a targeted segment.

When to use: When you want to automate marketing emails based on dates (like birthdays) or when patients join specific segments.
Quick decision guide
Still not sure which type to use? Here's a simple way to decide:

A specific appointment (booked, attended, cancelled, missed) β Transactional
I want to send it manually right now β Campaign
A date like a birthday or joining a group β Automation
Examples:
"Send a welcome email when someone books their first appointment" β Transactional (triggered by appointment being booked)
"Send a newsletter about our new opening hours" β Campaign (manual, marketing blast)
"Send a birthday email with a discount code" β Automation (triggered by birthdate)
"Follow up 30 days after an appointment if they haven't rebooked" β Transactional (triggered by appointment being attended)

What's the difference between an automated transactional email and automated journeys?
What's the difference between an automated transactional email and automated journeys?
We get this question a lot. Yes, they are 'similar' but they are not the same. Both of these email types are automated - but there's specific reason to use one over the other. It comes down to what needs to trigger the sending of the automation:
If a specific appointment - Transactional is what you need to use, as these emails are tied to the timing of an appointment whether it's coming up, attended in the past, just booked, cancelled or marked 'Did Not Arrive'. You can even reference the specific appointment details inside the email.
If it's a specific product or billable service a patient was invoiced Transactional is what you need to use.
If it's a date other than an appointment - such as a birthday, an automation is the way to go.
If it's general information about a patient - this one is a little more abstract to understand, but if you want to fire off an email/series of emails when a patient meets certain criteria which isn't specific to one particular appointment, then an automation typically works best.
The best way to learn is to just have a go at creating some emails - we promise, it's easier than you think and you'll get your head around it quickly π
