What are email templates?
β¨ Templates are reusable email designs. You can use them as a starting point for any email you create, and change the content each time to suit the needs of the email you're setting up.
Here's a tasty analogy:
π§βπ³ Templates are like cookie cutters. They give you a consistent shape and outline that you can use repeatedly.
πͺ Emails are like the cookies you bake. Each email you create is made using the cutter (template) but can have different flavours, decorations, or toppings (i.e. content) depending on the occasion or audience.
Where to to find the templates
Your templates can be found in the π Email manager by clicking the My templates heading:
β
From the My templates screen, you can do several things:
Edit the template design or content.
Copy the template to make another, similar version.
Create a π Campaign (one off marketing email) from a template.
Rename a template.
Delete a template.
Create a template of your own (from scratch!)
How to use the templates
When you want to send an email using a template as a starting point, you'll always be doing the following 3 things:
π Create an email (You'll start by selecting one of the 3 types of email)
π Select a template as a starting point
π Trigger your email (if it's automated) or Send it to your chosen audience (if it's a one off send).
Steps to use them:
Every time you whether it be a transactional email, a one-off campaign or a step in an automated journey, you'll be prompted to select a starting point for your email content.
Once you get to the Template selector step it'll look something like this:
On the left you'll see a tall menu:
π₯ Recent emails | Any email you've recently worked on is automatically saved as a reusable template here π |
π My templates | These are the clinic-themed personalised templates we've created for you, and are talking about in this article. Check these out first - we've done the work π«‘ |
π¨ Choose a design | Another 120+ templates for just about any purpose - courtesy of our email partner (great for fun newsletters and other marketing email) |
Select the template collection you'd like to browse and click the template you wish to get started with.
π Good to know - This will create an email from the chosen template, which you can edit without overwriting the original template.
Editing the original templates
You can edit the reusable templates from the My templates screen easily.
You'd only do this if you want the original, starting point templates to be different. Handy if you want to change a logo, colours or add some extra areas.
Edits you might like to make to the originals are:
Adding, editing or changing your logo.
Adding, changing or removing social media links.
Adding extra sections, columns or buttons.
Removing elements or sections you don't need.
Changing colours, fonts or images.
You'll always have the opportunity to change the content in an email when you use a template - and do any of the above! So remember, you needn't create a template for every email you plan on sending - the saved templates are just a reusable layout.
π Adding in your branding - If you took us up on our free personalised onboarding service (check the chat bubble for your checklist!) - we've done most of the work for you already. But if DIYing it, it's easy. You do, however, need to add your branding to each email template individually.

Can I change the content in the templates?
Yes you can. But remember, the templates are just the starting point for an email you send. You needn't customise the text in them - unless you want the default text we put in your reusable templates to change. But we suggest keeping our text there so you always have it as a reference. Once you create an email you can change the text however you like.
